German retail ginat orders 2,000 mobile Skeye terminals for data recording

German retail ginat orders 2,000 mobile Skeye terminals for data recording

Rewe supermarkets have placed a follow-up order with Hoeft & Wessel for 2,000 mobile terminals.

The new Skeye terminals will be deployed for data recording purposes for ordering and receipt of merchandise and for stocktaking in the supermarkets in Germany.

Reconfirming mobility importance

Rewe, which ranks in third position in the European grocery retail marker, has been relying on mobile terminals from Skeye, the business unit for mobile solutions of the Hoeft & Wessel Group, since the 1990s.

The new Skeye terminals for the Rewe supermarkets will be equipped with wireless local area network (WLAN) modules and scanners. Data will be transmitted to the central merchandise management system by WLAN. If required, the system can also be operated offline. The data records are then transmitted from a communication station later.

Skeye also supplies a software-compatible solution for the merchandise management system of the Rewe supermarkets. The 2,000 mobile terminals are scheduled for delivery by the end of this year.
