Augmented retail solution launches first application in America with jeweller at Bloomingdale’s

Tacori, the jewellery designer, has partnered with Holition, to create its first augmented reality application in America and the ultimate ‘try it on’ customer experience.

The latest development in augmented reality technology is being unveiled during an exclusive three-day launch event for the colourful new Tacori 18k925 Collection at the Bloomingdale’s Flagship 59th Street store in New York City.

Tacori worked with 3D and augmented reality retail solutions provider Holition to launch the “Try It On” experience via an interactive large scale video screen with multi-touch technology. Exclusive for three days only, from 10 to 12 December, the augmented reality application has been designed to transform the customer experience, as they can virtually ‘try on’ Tacori’s jewels from the new collection, without even having to open a jewellery case.

Delivering immersive immediacy

Paul Tacorian, Tacori senior vice president of sales and marketing, commented: “We are thrilled to be able to offer this first-of-its-kind technology in the jewellery world to New York’s Bloomingdale’s shoppers. Shoppers today are busy, and sometimes don’t have the time or inclination to wait at a jewellery counter for a sales person to help them try on the ‘below the counter’ items they desire. Our virtual “Try It On” experience allows clients the fun and instant gratification of trying on beautiful gems, and customising their style to quickly find what Tacori 18k925 design they like best.”

Jonathan Chippindale, Holition chief executive, commented: “In such a fiercely competitive market, luxury brands are fighting for new, innovative ways to distinguish themselves from other brands. Our technology is challenging and pushing the boundaries of the luxury sector by making it available and accessible to all and we are excited to be taking it stateside.”

Holition’s application for Tacori includes an in-built sharing capability, so that consumers can share the experience with their nearest and dearest. Shoppers can take snapshots of themselves virtually wearing items from the Tacori 18k925 Collection and share the photo via email, Facebook and Twitter for those extra Christmas present hints.
