Cash and carry wholesaler joins e-commerce revolution

Cash and carry wholesaler joins e-commerce revolution

Makro has launched its first transactional website to open up its brand to an even larger business audience.

The new site has been designed and built by Maginus, providers of integrated software solutions for multichannel retail and distribution companies.

Maginus will also provide hosting and full support for the website, which is search engine optimisation (SEO) enabled and tagged for Google Analytics. The provider said one of the key benefits for Makro is that this will give it full control of website content and visuals, enabling it to make changes to the site in-house.

Scaling with e-commerce development

Maginus eCommerce will also grow with the business, supporting the company’s plans for expansion. The web store will initially consist of professional catering equipment and appliances, but the range will continue to grow as the company adds more products and new categories to the site.

Keith Ellin, information manager at Makro, said: “We chose Maginus because they offered a solution that met our business needs. Maginus were also able to deliver our requirements in the timescales we were looking for, so we were ready for the Christmas trading period.”

Makro is one of the first companies within Metro Group to introduce this service and it follows the recent launch of an online product guide and a homepage refresh. Ellin added: “The e-commerce solution provides us with a truly multichannel platform to trade from in the future.”
