Boutique hotel embraces affordable video technology with VC-NET solution

Independent four-star, boutique London Bridge Hotel has chosen a VC-NET video conferencing solution to enhance its banqueting and conference offering.

Nick Cowell, London Bridge Hotel general manager, explained: “Providing guests with simple ISDN technology is no longer sufficient. To differentiate our offering we now have impressive but easy to use video conferencing in all of our conference and meeting rooms.

“We also offer the latest audio-visual equipment and complimentary WiFi access. As an independent hotel we have to manage our budget effectively and VC-NET surprised us with a very affordable, yet state-of-the-art HD [high definition] solution.”

Low bandwidth needs

Video conferencing, network and managed services specialist, VC-NET provided a Polycom DSX 700 solution enabling users to experience HD videoconferencing. The company said advanced HD video technology offers smooth, natural motion and sharp clear images for outstanding video. It offers flexible, cost-effective, HD communications from low bandwidth, which is suited to a small to medium-sized environment.

Chris Wade, executive chairman of VC-NET, commented: “Given the international nature of its business and its focus on green issues, the hotel and leisure industry is well positioned to take advantage of affordable video conferencing solutions. The technology has progressed significantly and now offers a real, viable and cost effective alternative to face-to-face meetings. HD video conferencing is at the heart of this, dispelling many of the old myths of poor quality.”
