Specialist restaurant and dining management solution manages landmark London hotel’s restaurant reservations

The Savoy exterirorOne of London’s best-loved and most iconic hotels, The Savoy, has installed the ResPAK restaurant and dining management solution from Analytical Systems, as supplied by authorised hospitality software reseller Agilysys Europe.

Since the five-star luxury hotel closed in December 2007, some 1,000 craftsmen, artists and builders have been hard at work transforming and updating the building. The renovation project costing £220 million has been one of the most ambitious ever undertaken in the UK. While the design and craft of the restored building presents a new face to its guests, behind-the-scenes improvements will result from The Savoy’s investment in state-of-the-art technology.

The Savoy’s assistant director of food and beverage, Stuart Stancombe, said: “As The Savoy moves into the next stage of its life, once again ranking as one of the world’s most-highly regarded hotels, we wanted to make sure we maintained our reputation for offering exceptional customer service. Today, there are new systems on the market such as ResPAK, implemented by Agilysys, which streamline processes and enable us to customise service to each guest.”

Superior system for silver service

Tim Clough, IT director at Fairmont Hotels & Resorts, the global group that manages The Savoy, added: “We wanted a superior system for dining reservations. We have a team offering a 24-hour silver service, in-room dining option to our guests, and we also offer guests the ability to make restaurant reservations day and night. We wanted, too, to be able to capture and analyse dining requirements and track our relationship with long-standing customers. Whilst we had previously diarised our reservations manually, we felt that the new hotel would benefit from an automated system such as ResPAK.”

Agilysys worked with The Savoy’s Directors of Food & Beverage, Revenue and IT to come up with the optimum solution. It was able to demonstrate the user-friendliness of the ResPAK solution together with the power of the product’s Database Analyser module in supporting personalised marketing.

Stancombe added: “The product features stood head and shoulders above the competition. In particular, the way ResPAK enables us to capture and use data persuaded us that it was the right system for us. We also spoke to a number of other hotels in our league, and heard how ResPAK helps them to deliver exceptional, individual service to the most demanding of guests.”
