Award-winning department store selects cool white Toshiba EPoS systems
TOSHIBA TEC’s cool white touchscreen B10 electronic point-of-sale (EPoS) terminals, incorporating Touchretail’s PoS software, have been installed in Newbury-based department store Camp Hopson.
The fifth generation, family-run business created in 1854, has been trading at its Grade II listed store since 1921 and won the Drapers Award for Best Independent Department Store in 2009.
“We needed a specialist till solution with an extended life support that was reliable, robust and suitable for a clothing environment where space can be an issue,” said Richard Tavener, Camp Hopson financial director. “Another key criteria was an integrated solution that enabled us to utilise the existing white peripherals.”
Rapid installation and deployment
Touchretail, a retail management systems specialist, recommended Toshiba hardware. To minimise disruption, the installation took place in two phases, the first five tills were installed in November 2010 and the balance of 21 installed at the beginning of Feb 2011. With all staff fully trained the system was completely operational in a very short period of time.
With the new Toshiba/Touchretail EPoS system in place, Camp Hopson has seen a real improvement in performance, transaction times at the till have been greatly reduced enabling customers to be served quicker. The functionality and flexibility of the system means Camp Hopson now has a fully integrated front and back end software solution.
“We selected Touchretail as their proven expertise in the department store arena gave us confidence that they could provide a tailored system to meet our needs. And Touchretail has been very understanding and delivered on their promises. With the Toshiba till solution, we are confident we have a reliable and stable seamless future-proofed low-cost solution to meet the needs of the business,” concluded Richard Tavener.
