Gadget retailer partners with mobile customer loyalty developer in time for holiday season

Speciality US-based retailer Brookstone late yesterday announced it had become the latest partner of the SWAGG mobile application.

Brookstone has joined a number of US retailers using the SWAGG application, developed by mobile commerce software specialist Firethorn Mobile, which is designed to enable shoppers to purchase digital gift cards and send them to family and friends via their smartphones. Mobile shoppers also can receive special offers and manage customer loyalty programmes through the app.

Consumers turn to mobile at Christmas

“We are excited to welcome Brookstone as our newest merchant partner to SWAGG,” said Rocco Fabiano, Firethorn Mobile president. “With the holiday season just around the corner, consumers will increasingly turn to their mobile devices when shopping. We believe that Brookstone’s customers will see SWAGG as a valuable tool that can make sending gift cards easy and convenient.”

“Mobile shopping has grown 44% since 2010 and Brookstone is engaging consumers through our mobile site, QR [quick response] code integration and social media,” said Ron Boire, Brookstone president and chief executive. “SWAGG is the perfect fit for our technology and quality-conscious consumers who lead the mobile lifestyle, and we’re excited about putting the SWAGG app’s functionality into their hands.”

Brookstone operates over 300 retail stores in the US and Puerto Rico, as well as international catalogue and online businesses. Firethorn Mobile is a wholly owned subsidiary of Qualcomm.
