France’s largest online shoe shop has selected its UK digital marketing partner to bring its proposition across The Channel

Latitude Digital Marketing has been selected by leading French online shoe retailer, Sarenza.

Sarenza said it prides itself in offering the biggest choice of shoes, with thousands of pairs from 250 different brands including Converse, Hush Puppies and Ugg, and the best service, with client satisfaction currently at 95%.

The website started in 2005 also guarantees the best online prices, as well as free and swift delivery, leading some analysts to tout Sarenza as the European Zappos. This potential is reflected in the company’s growth of turnover from €8.7 million (£7.7m) in 2007 to a projected €40m (£35.3m) in 2009. It is now striving to gain a full online presence in the UK.

Sarenza is now looking to continue this growth through its European expansion and has chosen digital marketing agency Latitude to manage search engine optimisation (SEO), pay per click (PPC) and affiliate advertising campaigns for the UK launch. Latitude was involved in a competitive four-way pitch for the six-figure campaign.

Eyes on a sophisticated consumer market prize

Stéphane Treppoz, chief executive of Sarenza, said of the move: “We are excited about continuing our expansion into the UK, as it is one of the most advanced European markets in terms of online retail with 57% of UK consumers having bought a product online in 2008 compared to 53% in Germany and 40% in France (Eurostat). For this reason, we see it as a prime opportunity for us to continue our rapid growth in the European online shoe retail market.

“As a pure play online retailer, search and affiliate marketing are very important tools for growing our business in the UK. We chose Latitude as our digital marketing partner for these channels because of the agency’s extensive experience in the online retail sector, and the strength of their native speaking French search team.”

Alex Hoye, chief executive of Latitude added: “There is definitely room in the UK market for an online shoe retailer with the unique selling points that Sarenza has.”

Latitude also recently won the online betting firm, Victor Chandler and Tesco Mobile search campaigns as well as the JJB Sports affiliate advertising account.
