Leading the way for the hospitality industry with Meraki wireless project with Cloud Distribution

Leading the way for the hospitality industry with Meraki wireless project with Cloud Distribution

The Mount Hotel in Wolverhampton recently completed the successful deployment of a Meraki wireless solution from specialist technology providers, The MJC Group.

MJC recently became a Meraki Gold Partner and has been working closely with the wireless provider’s exclusive UK value-added distributor (VAD) Cloud Distribution to supply the Midlands and surrounding areas with state-of-the-art wireless local area network (LAN) solutions from this vendor.

Pioneering solution for manor house

The Mount Hotel in Wolverhampton was one of the first to deploy Meraki through MJC, after analysing customer feedback and identifying a strategic need for guests to have robust, high speed connectivity for mobile working with laptops and tablet devices.

The VAD said that the hotel chose to deploy a wireless solution from MJC’s portfolio after looking evaluating the marketplace and concluding that Meraki’s capabilities were the most suited to the hotel’s needs.

As the Mount Hotel is a Grade II Listed building 19th century manor house, detailed surveys and consultations where needed to ensure the discrete installation of 28 access points across all areas of the hotel, to maintain a high signal strength throughout.

Scott Bernard, director of The Mount Hotel, said: “When looking for a new wireless solution it was important that we balance our need to have the latest technology with preserving the beauty of the buildings. The team ensured access points were placed behind fixtures, fitting and false ceiling yet still delivered an Ethernet-like 802.11n performance.”

Extending guest services

MJC deployed the Meraki WLAN network in the hotel to facilitate high-speed guest connectivity. It also showcases the latest browser-based cloud controller for quick and easy installation, plus a customisable interface to further promote hotel services to guests.

Bernard added: “We see the customisable interface as a platform to further promote our services to guests, and help differentiate us from neighbouring hotels. The synergy of modern day technology, plus the high quality demands of hospitality and the hotelier industry, with our historic building, has been a complete success.”

The technical team worked around operations, staff and guests when installing the system to minimise disruption. In addition, the training after the installation was easy to follow and now enables staff onsite to control and modify the wireless system without any technical intervention.
