UK Pandora jewellery retailer records 500% conversion after web upgrade

 

Independent UK jewellery business, John Greed, has chosen to work with e-commerce software provider Venda to support the growth of its online business.

 

John Greed selected Venda’s e-commerce platform to help it enhance its online customers’ shopping experience and increase average order value.

 

Venda said its on-demand cloud model has introduced guided navigation to the jeweller’s transactional website, which ensures that customers are directed to products that match their viewed items. The provider’s team also developed customised functionalities for the online site at checkout that offers the customer a choice of gift boxes, the option to add charity products to a purchase and personalised engraving with a choice of font and message. Since its implementation in August 2011, the John Greed online store has seen its conversion rate increase by 500%.

 

Sophisticated promotions boost conversion

 

As a result of this success, and access to a more sophisticated rules-based promotion engine, John Greed was also able to run its first online promotion. A highly successful activity, the promotion resulted in conversions four times higher than its normal rate. In addition to the core technology, Venda developed attribute stock status messaging for the site, which ensures John Greed is alerted to low or out-of-stock products in a timely manner.

 

Richard Finch, John Greed chief executive, commented: “Historically, we have been renowned as one of the leading stockists of branded jewellery, but we wanted to make sure our customers understood that we were much more than this. We turned to our very active Facebook community for inspiration and decided to update our existing ecommerce site with the very latest technology.

We’ve also seen a great response from our Facebook community, who are impressed with the online shopping site’s cleaner design. John Greed has expanded the site further by enabling the multi-language and multi-currency functionality already built into the Venda platform, and has now launched in Germany, France, Italy and the US. It also plans to add gift and greetings cards to its online store, and further promotions in the future.
