Luxury hotel & golf venue scores a hole-in-one with first UK cloud deployment of hotel management system

Luxury hotel & golf venue scores a hole-in-one with first UK cloud deployment of hotel management system

Luxury golf venue Hunley Hotel & Golf Club has chosen to deploy Infor10 SoftBrands hotel management system (HMS) in the cloud.

Planned to go live this month, Hunley is the first UK site use Infor10 SoftBrands HMS via cloud-based delivery.

The 30-room hotel, located on the North Yorkshire coast with 29 golf holes including the championship Morgans course, will use the HMS to integrate multiple functions across hotel, restaurant and conference operations, and help optimise guest services while maximising profitability.

The software as a service (SaaS) will also offer improved reporting for enhanced financial management, including key performance indicators of occupancy and revenue per room among others.

Maximising legacy replacement benefits

Operational management software components will enable Huntley Hotel to take advantage of social marketing channels such as Twitter, Facebook and popular review sites. And it will use the Infor10 ION middleware technology within SoftBrands HMS to integrate the application with its restaurant point-of-sale (PoS) application, Squirrel.

Hunley is using the software from SoftBrands, the Lawson Software division, which is an Infor affiliate, to replace an unreliable legacy system that hindered visibility of the entire business, and could not provide the granular level of reporting needed to deliver effective management information and decision-making.

Hunley chose to deploy the application in the cloud to reduce the administrative and IT burden of hosting and maintaining the application onsite, with lower upfront capital expenditure and smoothing the process for future upgrades.

Adding multichannel flexibility

Remote, web-based access to Infor10 SoftBrands HMS was also a key factor in the decision as it supports mobile working practices, according to the provider.

“With a 30-room hotel and restaurant operation to manage, as well as conference faciltities and championship golf course, we have a diverse set of revenue streams and a wide array of business processes to manage,” said Elliot Hamilton, Hunley Hotel & Golf Club chief executive.

“However, the visibility facilitated by Infor10 SoftBrands HMS, combined with social media capabilities and ease-of-use, role based interfaces, will ensure that we maximise profitability across the entire business. Furthermore, the integration with our restaurant systems, 24-hour support and ability to access the system remotely are all huge benefits of the application.”
