Online gallery shop expands e-commerce offering to grow national and international sales

Online gallery shop expands e-commerce offering to grow national and international sales

Tate Online Shop, the online outlet of the Tate galleries, has launched a new e-commerce website based on Venda software.

Venda said it was commissioned by the Tate in 2010 following a rigorous selection process. The brief was to redevelop its website that dated back nearly a decade. It had a brief improve interactions with old and new customers, while making the site easier to navigate and use.

Its trading company, Tate Enterprises, which returns all of its profits to the galleries to support the organisations’ activities, runs the Tate’s online shop.

Revenue opportunity showcase

Tate Enterprises commissions artists, designers, illustrators and authors to create a wide array of books and exclusive products and, therefore, wanted to showcase them and provide an exceptional shopping experience to customers all over the world.

As well as simple, clear design, consistent with the main Tate website, the new features include fast and easy navigation, sophisticated product merchandising, larger product images, enhanced zoom, look inside functionality, reviews and a quick-shop experience.

Laura Wright, Tate Enterprises chief executive, stated: “We are extremely proud of our new e-commerce website and the exceptional user experience it offers our customers. We have ambitious plans to grow our sales in the future so that we can continue to support Tate’s activities.”
