Vendor claims thin client system will increase retailer flexibility and agility
Specialist retail IT vendor BCP has launched a new point-of-sale (PoS) system, Accord-Momentum, using object orientated architecture.
It said the Accord-Momentum architecture will allow retailers to introduce changes to software to support business change more swiftly and cost effectively than has been possible previously.
The new PoS system combines the real-time architecture and small footprint of thin client technology is designed to decrease IT infrastructure-related downtime.
Its architecture can also aid the implementation of PoS software changes to business and retail processes more swiftly and cost effectively, according to BCP.
Enabling responsive retailing
In addition to the greater code re-usability of the architecture, access to real-time data feeds would also allow retailers to be more responsive and in tune with customer demands and react to situations as they occur.
Brian Preece, BCP retail systems director, stated: “As one of the key players in the retail software market, we are always looking to develop new software that addresses changing market needs and helps retailers to drive down costs while maintaining customer service levels.
"We believe Accord-Momentum is unique in what it is offering and fills a gap in the marketplace. Flexible back end connectivity means it can be easily integrated to existing systems. One major UK retailer has already signed up for Accord-Momentum.”
