Indoor climbing centres streamline customer payments and back-office integration
UK indoor climbing centre operator, High Sports Group, has upgraded its card payment systems to improve back-office administration as well as customer service.
It found the time taken to process credit and debit card payments with its PDQ processing terminal was too long, while it did not integrate with its electronic point-of-sale (EPoS) software.
As 60% of the transactions at High Sports are credit or debit card based, it needed a new card payment system to speed customer transaction times and handle back-office transaction reconciliation functions.
The company turned to existing software supplier RD Software, which recommended EasyV-Retail from YESpay linked to the EMBOSS payment gateway.
EasyV-Retail provided High Sports with its pre-accredited card payment system, enabling it to quickly process EMV chip & PIN and magnetic credit and debit card payments via its EPoS systems.
Supporting customers and growing business
“Our partnerships with key suppliers such as RD Software and YESpay have enabled us to grow and manage our business more effectively and to serve our customers to the best of our ability,” said Michael Wates, High Sports Group director.
The YESpay integration with the EPoS software used by High Sports has sped up reconciliation customer transaction times, reducing the time customers spend queuing.
“Our busiest centre, Crawley, saw the biggest transformation when the staff were able to handle customers very efficiently and quickly," added Wates. "The EFT [electronic funds transfer] transactions happened in around three seconds compared to the 45-60 seconds that the PDQ would normally take”, adds Michael.
The integration of the solution with High Sports back-office systems has also reduced the time spent resolving balancing errors and customer queries, using the online, web-based reporting capabilities provided by EMBOSS for all of High Sports card transactions.
Eight High Sports outlets and a small school-based wall moved to the YESpay system, while new centres in Basildon and Plymouth were installed with multiple EPoS and YESPay terminals from launch.
