Entertainment company in first in the UK to manage retail payments with security system

Underbelly, the live entertainment company, last week revealed it had become the first in the UK to integrate new payments security from Phoenix Managed Networks.

As part of a multi-year agreement the company is using Phoenix’s PaySecure at its site on the London’s South Bank and at the Edinburgh Fringe festival as well.

Underbelly has replaced its previous payment systems, supplied by multiple vendors and managed in-house. The Payment Card Industry (PCI) data security standards-compliant data security system is internet protocol (IP) based and manages payments and ticketing data from the payment terminal to bank authorisation. It also incorporates the industry’s first ever PCI firewall, reducing compliance requirements.

Strengthening payment security measures

Alan Stephenson-Brown, Phoenix European director, added: “Following our strategic deal with Mako Networks in February 2012, I am thrilled how PaySecure has been received in the UK. Not only does it supply a secure transaction network, but it also goes one step further by providing on-site network security which makes it easy for merchants to work in a continually PCI compliant environment.”

Sarah Fleming, operations manager at Underbelly, commented: “Before moving to Phoenix PaySecure, we had to speak to a number of different vendors to ensure we had a safe and secure network on a slow old fashioned dial-up solution.

“PaySecure has allowed us to migrate to a faster IP system, which guarantees security for ourselves and our customers. The fact that this goes beyond payments into other sections of the business, such as ticketing, is fantastic. We are delighted PaySecure is able to support our unique company needs.”
