Retailer updates manual processes with new technology to boost stock accuracy and availability
Lingerie and swimwear retailer Rigby & Peller has invested in a new warehousing scanning system to improve warehouse performance and accuracy.
By automating previous manual data entry tasks using Futura’s scanning system, Futura4Scan, staff have cut the time it takes to process daily orders from individual stores. This, in turn, enables it make sure its supply chain can react more quickly to changing customer demand.
Benefits extend beyond warehouse
The system is integrated with the retailer's existing retail management and point-of-sale (PoS) products from Futura, which are used across Rigby & Peller’s network of seven stores. Improved accuracy in the warehouse also provides stores with a more precise tally of stock in store, saving time and ensuring stores get exactly what they need when they need it.
By replacing manual order picking, the team also has more time for other essential tasks including ticketing and inventory control and can turn deliveries around faster. It is now possible to process incoming stock, orders and deliveries on the same day they are received.
Enabling responsive retailing
Tifany Hotton, Rigby & Peller’s logistics and distribution manager, said: “Futura4Scan is saving a vast amount of time, which means we can be much more responsive. It also avoids having to print out reams of paper for picking lists allowing us to be more environmentally friendly.
"The system is straightforward to use, frees up staff for other processes and ensures a smoother and more accurate flow of stock through the warehouse.”
