California sportswear manufacturer uses Demandware to launch 10 new e-commerce sites

Global outdoor sports lifestyle company Quiksilver announced yesterday it is using the Demandware Commerce platform to boost European sales online.

The platform is powering 10 new e-commerce sites recently launched by Quiksilver – in Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Spain and the UK.

Speed and scalability

Demandware said the ability to launch multiple sites quickly and efficiently without compromising the brand experience, as well as scalability, were critical considerations for Quiksilver when evaluating a new platform.

Nicolas Foulet, senior vice president of digital at Quiksilver, said: “Quiksilver had a very aggressive market expansion strategy and we needed a platform that would allow us to roll out multiple sites across geographies in a fast, efficient way. Equally important was the ability to create distinct brand experiences that we can continuously evolve and enhance for our customers.”

The new Quiksilver sites have been designed to offer visual, interactive environments that display more than 3,000 products within the context of various outdoor sports in a way that is intuitive and easy to navigate. Features include videos, interactive look books and sophisticated search.

Encouraging brand interaction

The sites also incorporate community and social media to keep board sports enthusiasts up-to-date and connected with athletes, events and the latest innovations.

Foulet said the e-commerce software capabilities exceeded expectations. “Launching 10 sites in different geographies in a few months is a major accomplishment,” he added. “I believe this would not have been possible with any other platform.”
