New deal gives expands prepaid-cash issuing estate across the Channel

New deal gives expands prepaid-cash issuing estate across the Channel

Following the announcement last week that Ukash became available directly to consumers in France for the first time, the company has now announced it is the largest issuing estate for e-vouchers in France.

In addition to the 15,000 point of sale (PoS) terminals operated by la SAF, Ukash has added a further 2,250 points of sale through a deal with SRD, making it available at a total of 17,250 outlets throughout the country. This combined with the availability of vouchers through Toneo prepaid cards since November 2008 – as well as its online issuance capability – means Ukash has the largest availability of e-vouchers in France.

Globally, Ukash is available at more than 300,000 physical issuing points and spans 29 countries.

Extensive retail network widens

In partnership with SRD, a paper voucher will be issued at point of purchase, found in tobacconists, newsagents and call shops across the country, with a code that is redeemable at any website where Ukash is accepted and can be combined, split or converted for consumers to shop online across websites from different countries.

Mark Chirnside, Ukash chief executive, said: “The addition of these new points of sale and our expansion with multiple payment networks in France is in line with the increasing consumer need to spend cash securely online. Our partnerships with SRD, la SAF and Toneo help establish Ukash as the number-one provider of e-vouchers in France, and we recognise this as a great step toward realising our goal of becoming the largest alternative payment provider in the world.”

Consumers can purchase the printed vouchers with cash in amounts of 10, 20, 50, 100 and 200 EUR.
