Primary care sector software and IT services provider picks up finance, HR and document management software firm

Primary care sector software and IT services provider picks up finance, HR and document management software firm

Advanced Computer Software (ACS) has acquired Redac Holdings Limited, owner of COA Solutions (COA), from Alchemy Partners for a total consideration of £100 million it was announced today. The transaction is financed through ACS's cash resources and new bank debt.

COA has been a supplier of software solutions to the public and private sectors for over 25 years, with in excess of 5,000 direct and indirect customers in healthcare, public and emergency (‘blue light’) services and the private sector, including a number of retailers.

Finance and back-office processes

COA provides software products for accounting and budgeting, data analysis, business intelligence (including patient pathways), compliance, billing, executive dashboard, human resources (HR), payroll, procurement, document management and business process outsourcing (BPO) services.

The acquisition was said to significantly strengthen ACS's position within the healthcare and public-sector markets and provide access to key decision makers, creating significant opportunities for cross-selling both ACS and COA products.

COA’s customer base also includes more than 1,600 corporate clients including Barclays, RBS, Santander, BA, Virgin, Trinity Mirror and Specsavers.

Acquisition to strengthen market reach

Vin Murria, ACS Group chief executive stated: "This is an excellent earnings enhancing acquisition that significantly strengthens our position in the healthcare and public sector markets. It also brings us direct engagement with senior decision makers who need to deliver the kinds of efficiency savings that our combined product set can offer.

"There are substantial opportunities to cross-sell our existing healthcare products into new markets while many of our existing healthcare clients could benefit from management tools in the COA product suite.

"Furthermore, it gives us a substantial and profitable commercial arm with a blue-chip client base that we will combine with our existing commercial arm. As we approach the end of ACS's financial year, I am pleased to report that we continue to trade in line with market expectations," he added.
