Software, web and mobile testing experts helps successfully delivered the testing for buildings and materials supplier

Jewson Builders Merchant has engaged professional software, web and mobile testing company MagenTys to launch a new trade e-commerce website.

Jewson Tools Direct allows trade professionals to purchase the tools they need online, then have them delivered directly to site or collect from one of over 600 Jewson branches nationwide. It outsourced the website testing to MagenTys based on their vision that Tools Direct had to lead the way in a competitive online market.

Structured, forensic approach

MagenTys offered structured testing to improve functionality and customer experience, geared towards delivering peace of mind that the site would function as intended, be stable and robust and safeguard customers against errors and performance issues.

“MagenTys added significant value to the test delivery of this project,” said Andy Scothern, Jewson e-commerce director. “Their structured approach to testing and expertise in eCommerce technologies enabled them to raise over 90 key defects within a short space of time – some of the issues found have been nothing short of forensic.”

MagenTys’ functional testing activities included login/registration, shopping, branch finder, search and help facilities, link checking and account management. The non-functional element focused on cross browser compatibility, usability testing, navigation, accessibility testing, product filtering/sorting and general web conformity standards.
