Upgrade of head office and point-of-sale systems improves customer experience for English conservation organisation
English Heritage, the historic buildings and monuments commission for England, has embarked on a project with K3 Retail and Microsoft to deliver a better visitor experience with the upgrade of its head office and point-of-sale (PoS) systems.
The project will enable English Heritage to reduce many manual processes, providing new ways of working and enabling more time to be spent focusing on visitors to the historic sites it manages.
Managing end-to-end processes
The Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2013 system from K3 Retail will be used to support the front-end of the business through to the back office, ranging from admissions and ticketing, membership transactions and renewals, sales at the on-site shops and cafes, through to promoting the broad range of events held at English Heritage sites from medieval jousts to battle re-enactments.
With the new system English Heritage will have total visibility of the business allowing its people to better manage stock across its retail estate. This includes the latest in stock management and forecasting for accurate and efficient inventory processing.
This capability will also allow the government-funded organisation to understand which products sell best at each site, determining the optimum levels of stock held. With enhanced stock control and auto replenishment, there will be better availability of popular products with less risk of over stocking the stores, leading to a higher return on investment on inventory.
Improving customer service
The new PoS will help speed up admissions, support retail sales and facilitate improved profit generation in many of the catering facilities across all English Heritage sites, delivering increased functionality for menu planning, recipe costing and improved stock management – reducing the cost of sales and write-offs.
The new business systems will provide the core business with the modern functionality needed to run over 100 staffed properties and deliver a flexible platform for future growth.
English Heritage did not comment on the announcement.
