Godiva makes social media appointment

By Retail Technology | Thursday January 9 2014

Selection of UK agency supports international expansion plans for social strategy that reflects core marketing objectives and establishes strong presence

The luxury Belgian chocolatier Godiva has chosen Kitch Media, a Sussex-based social media and online marketing agency, to deliver its UK social media presence.

Godiva has sites in over 80 countries worldwide. There are currently eleven Godiva sites in the UK; ten in London, including the Godiva Chocolate Café in Harrods, and one site in Selfridges in Trafford, Manchester.

Godiva wanted to work with a social media agency that had experience in the food and hospitality industry to help it establish a reputable social presence in the UK.

Customer engagement and communication

Kitch Media has created social media profiles and will manage the company’s UK social networks going forward. Prior to working with Kitch Media, Godiva did not have any UK social media presence. The two companies have already worked together to develop Godiva UK Facebook page and Twitter profile and the agency will deliver the social strategy in line with the core marketing objectives of Godiva.

The social media platforms will allow Godiva to engage with their UK audience ongoing and support the imminent launch of the UK website.

Victoria Leadbitter, brand manager in Europe, Middle East and Africa for Godiva, said: “We are so excited to work with Kitch Media to launch our social media presence in the UK. The UK takes a key focus in Godiva’s expansion plans and we are thrilled to be able to engage and further communicate with our UK customers through these new channels. Kitch Media have been a delight to work with and more than deliver our expectations.”

The chocolatier also recently revealed it had chosen to work with e-commerce systems integrator eCommera to support its new UK website launch.
