Dobbies signs up for new network

One of the UK’s largest garden centre retailers plants the seeds of change by embracing new managed IT and telecoms network deal
Dobbies has announced that it has signed a contract with Easynet Global Services for a resilient new IT network.
With an almost 150-year heritage Dobbies has grown to 34 stores and a digital presence. And now its new telecoms network will provide the garden centre retailer with a managed IT platform for its retail operations and support its strategic growth plans.
A network outage is simply not an option, at peak times in particular, when electronic point-of-sale (EPoS) and authorisation systems need to share information rapidly across its stores and head office.
Building on strong offer
David Gammie, director of IT for Dobbies Garden Centres, said: “We’re in a really exciting place at the moment, with a strong customer offer that we want to build on.
“A robust and reliable IT platform will help us to continue to deliver a great customer experience, and drive forward our growth plans. Easynet has taken time to get to know our organisation, and demonstrated a thorough understanding of our industry.”
Adrian Thirkill, UK managing director for Easynet Global Services, added: “It’s fantastic to see a stalwart of Great Britain’s retail industry truly embrace IT. Dobbies has been operating for the best part of a century and a half and its new robust IT infrastructure really is a springboard for growth.”
