Mall operator installs Amazon lockers

By Retail Technology | Sunday September 4 2016

US mall operator PREIT now has Amazon lockers installed at 15 of its locations on the East coast

The programme is billed as a win-win with consumers gaining added convenience and mall tenants getting valuable online shoppers in their stores.

“To team up with Amazon to offer a first-of-its-kind, multi-location Amazon Locker installation at some of our malls is a great milestone,” Chain Store Age reported PREIT CEO Joseph Coradino as saying. “We fully embrace the growing intersection of physical and digital retail, and through this programme, we are expanding our shopper base to welcome new consumers to our properties.”

Amazon lockers have also recently been unveiled in locations such as Portland Plaid Pantry stores in Oregon and Shoppers Food Stores in Maryland.
