Dynamics Nav selected for Costa Coffee’s international management requirements

Torex has announces that it has implemented Torex Dynamics Nav throughout the Costa Coffee international organisation.

The enterprise resource planning (ERP) tool has automated processes and streamlined operations to provide valuable business insight and save the company time and resources, according to the provider.

Costa Coffee is the UK's largest coffee shop brand with 1,069 coffee shops in the UK, 412 of which are franchises. It also has a substantial international presence with 442 branches in 25 international markets.

Finding a system with the right fit

Although Costa Coffee already had an ERP system in place, which was used throughout all of Whitbread PLC brands, the system did not directly fit the needs of Costa Coffee and its many franchises.

Torex Dynamics Nav was selected as it is designed especially for the hospitality industry and closely matched the needs of Costa Coffee, as well as reducing support and hardware maintenance costs.

The coffee shop chain selected the Torex system to gain complete control over its finances, automating processes such as raising purchase orders and calculating franchise royalties, which were previously major tasks for a company with so many outlets.

Streamlining processes and business

The implementation also minimised the number of spreadsheets used in the business, meaning that processes including ordering supplies will become less arduous and time-consuming. Through minimising the time spent on these activities, Costa Coffee expects to save money, which can then be invested in growing the business and investing in its customers.

Costa Coffee will also have more convenient access to insightful data regarding individual stores. This information will help the chain to gain a more accurate understanding of each store’s performance, leading the company to make more informed commercial decisions on how it should invest in serving its customers.

CJ Bobrowski, head of Costa Systems, explained: “We have fully implemented the new system and are already seeing significant benefits. With greater insight into trends we can adapt more quickly to any changes in consumer needs, helping us to stay ahead of competition in a crowded marketplace. As the system is flexible and easy to deploy, we can easily accommodate future growth in our UK and international presence.”
