Nike acquires retail analytics firm

By Retail Technology | Thursday August 8 2019

Sportswear giant Nike has acquired retail predictive analytics and demand sensing firm Celect

The move is another part of Nike’s Consumer Direct Offense strategy which aims to serve consumers personally on a global scale.

It will enable the company to be more insight-driven, data optimised and focused on consumer behaviour.

Celect’s cloud-based analytics platform provides proprietary insights that allow retailers to optimise inventory across an omnichannel environment through hyper-local demand predictions.

The Celect team will immediately be integrated into Nike’s Global Operations Team and its co-founders will continue as tenured professors at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, consulting Nike on an ongoing basis.
