Amazon applies for flight exemptions for drones

Amazon’s plans for drone deliveries are not going away anytime soon and it has now asked US regulators to excuse it from some current flight rules
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has published a petition from Amazon that would allow the company to operate a delivery system that will get packages to customers in 30 minutes or less using unmanned aerial systems (drones).
It is requesting permission to use its custom MK27 drone for deliveries before the FAA grants the aircraft a certificate of airworthiness, and an exemption from drone-specific rules, including a requirement that they only be operated when an operator can see it.
Amazon also requested to be excused from complying with aviation regulations reserved for planes such as flying above certain heights, carrying extra fuel and flying with documentation.
