Costa brews up payroll software upgrade

Coffee chain Costa Coffee has selected new software to manage its recruitment, HR and payroll processes
It will be using Ceridian’s Dayforce technology to deliver accurate and timely pay to 18,000 employees within its UK retail business, Costa Express and support centre.
Costa Coffee’s retail team members and managers currently use Dayforce to support business-critical day-to-day processes such as scheduling, mobile shift trading, and time recording.
Now it will have access to Dayforce’s recruitment solution to better attract, retain, and grow talent.
User adoption
The retailer also plans to implement Dayforce Payroll, which combines payroll and time in one system – meaning employees are paid accurately and on time with built-in support for UK-specific requirements.
Andrew Ratcliffe, head of people shared services at Costa Coffee, said: “The success of our initial investment with Dayforce is demonstrated by the level of user adoption we are seeing with more than 8.5 million mobile sessions in the last 12 months. With such high levels of employee adoption, extending our use of the Dayforce platform into payroll and talent management made perfect sense.”
Dayforce will help provide Costa Coffee with accurate, real-time and meaningful information to support its growth, following its recent acquisition by The Coca Cola Company.
With a commitment to reduce waste, they will also be able to minimise their environmental impact by removing the need to print and distribute paper documentation.
