Puma unveils state-of-the-art NY store

By Retail Technology | Friday August 30 2019

Sportswear giant has unveiled a new cutting edge flagship store in New York that gives customers the ability to ‘virtually train’ with sports stars

A creative platform courtesy of Green Room called ‘idols brought to earth’, integrates global Puma brand ambassadors such as Barcelona football star Antoine Griezmann into an immersive experience, positioning them as virtual training buddies.

Respected for their training regimes and prowess, athletes also including F1 champ Lewis Hamilton and Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku host coaching sessions in the Skill Cube that transport customers either to a virtual football stadium, or a disused warehouse; an experience specifically designed to deliver the best authentic footwear trial while still in store.

The Skill Cube immerses visitors in a multi-sensory environment incorporating 270° floor to ceiling LCD content screens, graphic projection, motion sensing devices, dynamic lighting and surround sound.

Authentic conditions

The floor covering is a high-quality, multi-sport, synthetic turf, designed to bring the footwear benefits to the fore by simulating authentic trial conditions, that further enhance a life-like experience.

Jason Isenberg, global head of commercial marketing at Puma, said “Facilitating unique and immersive experiences is central to our long-term commercial strategy and the Skill Cube New York delivers on this in every way. This is truly a one of a kind experience and we are confident that our shoppers in the NYC Store will find it extremely engaging and compelling."
