Delivery robots hit Milton Keynes centre
Delivery robots are being rolled out in Milton Keynes town centre - the first time that robot delivery has been made available in the centre of a UK town
The Starship Technologies robots have already made over 100,000 deliveries across the Milton Keynes area since April 2018 and faced growing calls for the service to expand to other areas of the town, especially the centre where 180,000 people work.
Using the Starship deliveries app, a resident or worker in central Milton Keynes can order food and drink to be delivered from some of the most popular brands in the town.
This new expansion from Starship will help ease congestion in the centre of town by giving people the option of electrically-powered robot delivery, where before they would potentially rely on delivery services that use cars and other environmentally-unfriendly modes of transport.
The Mayor of Milton Keynes, councillor Sam Crooks, said: “Hopefully this new service will ease congestion in the centre and make it that bit more environmentally-friendly, while giving workers the opportunity to experience robot delivery in a town on the front line of new technological advancements.”
