DSG international (DSGi), one of Europe's leading specialist electrical retailing groups, has improved its financial processes and reporting, following the implementation of SAP Finance in partnership with SAP retail consultancy, CIBER.
The project is part of DSGi's drive to simplify business processes, and improve systems and decision-making and was delivered on time and on budget. SAP has given DSGi greater control over its financial processes.
The software is being used by around 200 staff based at its Hemel Hempstead retail support centre, as well as teams at its Czech shared service centre and Dublin-based finance operation.
James Welsh, DSGi programme director said: "SAP has brought a number of process efficiencies and enhanced controls to the finance operation; for example, increased automation of reconciliations, faster closing of ledgers and improved credit management processes."
He added: "We took the opportunity to review all of the finance processes and standardise the process documentation. These standard operating procedures now form the basis upon which all finance staff work, driving a culture of continuous process improvement. CIBER's expertise in implementing and running SAP in a retail environment ensured that the finance system went in on time and on budget."
DSGi has worked particularly closely with SAP retail consultancy CIBER on the build phase of the implementation. CIBER is hosting the system and providing ongoing application support.
