Best Buy plans to be agentic AI leader

By Retail Technology | Thursday March 12 2026

US retailer Best Buy is doubling down on agentic AI and becoming more ‘friendly’ to the growing technology

The retailer has announced it is partnering with OpenAI to make its product catalog available on ChatGPT and make discovery through the platform a more seamless experience

“As agentic commerce matures, we want to serve our customers in new ways, both on and off of platforms,” CEO Corie Barry said in an earnings call. “That includes evolving bestbuy.com to be more agentic friendly and ensuring our site is ready for AI agents to browse and discover on behalf of our customers.”
