HD entertainment offering rolled out in advance of 2010 Ryder Cup

HD entertainment offering rolled out in advance of 2010 Ryder Cup

Acentic, a leading supplier of digital interactive TV (iTV) systems over coaxial and internet protocol (IP) networks for the hotel industry, announced today a new partnership with The Celtic Manor Resort in Wales.

The Celtic Manor is a five star, 400-bedroom golf and spa resort built with three championship golf courses, including the new ‘Twenty Ten Course,’ which will stage the prestigious 2010 Ryder Cup golfing tournament later this year.

The hotel is already using an Acentic Vision 400 system with traditional cathode ray tube (CRT) TVs and has been a customer of Acentic since it first opened its Resort Hotel in 1999. In readiness for the tournament and for The Celtic Manor Wales Open, which occurred in June, Acentic supplied Philips 32 and 37-inch ultimate high definition (HD) LCDs with the latest generation of its Acentic Panorama system. The hotel is the first property in the UK to use the Panorama HD solution with the Philips LCDs over a coaxial network.

"Panorama HD-over-coax is unique in the market because it is the only system that will allow guests to view multiple HD TV channels, HD movies and hundreds of TV channels in digital quality," said Richard Robinson, Acentic chief executive. "Furthermore, the graphical power of Panorama HD allows the hotel to communicate its brand message directly to the guest, via the TV."

Offering top-quality visual opportunity

The provider said its Panorama HD system will provide the hotel’s guests with an intuitive HD digital TV system showing on the latest Philips LCD screens. With over 500 TV and radio channels, it will cater for the international profile of clients and also provide more than 100 movie and entertainment products for individuals or family members to use while staying at the hotel.

"The importance of linking our brand with the Ryder Cup is paramount, and any future events we hold at the venue will act as a memory reference of the Ryder Cup", said Russell Philips, vice president of facilities and development at Celtic Manor. "We are excited to be working with Acentic, our long-term partner, which has delivered high-quality service to the resort over many years and which will now provide a digital entertainment system that guests of the hotel have never seen before."
