Survey: Majority of small retailers were not ready for GDPR

GDPR came into effect on May 25th and a new small business survey has revealed that only 31% of retailers were ready for the changes
The survey, run by instantprint, gave insight into the broad range of queries and lack of knowledge that over 1,300 small business owners feel they have about GDPR.
Communicating the changes in privacy policies and marketing communications to existing customers is looking to be an expensive task with 45% of retail businesses needing to reprint their marketing materials to gain compliance, at an average estimated cost of £352 for each retail campaign.
Marketing methods
The recent survey also illustrated that email is the preferred marketing method among retailers with 59% of businesses currently utilising it.
On average 59% of small businesses use flyer distribution whilst 42% make use of direct mail.
